secret running club.

apparently there is a secret running club, and today i found out about it.  the only requirement is that you wake up at 6 in the morning.  i've never been a morning runner, but my dad was talking about how he has been running in the mornings and how much he likes it.  so, today i thought i'd try it.  got up at 6, headed out the door at 6:15.  there were runners everywhere!  we probably saw about twenty runners along the way, it was crazy.  i knew people ran in the morning, but i had no idea how popular it was.  i liked feeling like a part of this "club."  i think i'll try it more often.

{this is where it all began, our first race-- 5k}

fire pit.

my parents bought a fire pit for the backyard.  love it!  we roasted marshmallows and bread-on-a-stick-- that's not really what it's called, but i can't pronounce the name, so i'll just call it that.  it was perfect for a summer's night fhe.  maybe next time we'll pitch the tent too, and it'll be like my kind of camping!

wasatch back relay.

188 miles. 24 hours. 12 people. 2 vans.

this was my first time running the wasatch back relay, and i loved it. it was even better than i hoped it would be. we stared at 8:50 on friday morning, and ended at about 10:00 (at least van one did) on saturday morning. there are 12 runners on each team, and we all took turns running the 188 miles from logan to park city. we each ran anywhere from 11-18 total miles, split into three different legs for each person. we split up into two vans, with six runners in each. luckily we had a 14 passenger van for our six runners, so it was very comfortable for the 24 hours we spent in there! it's amazing what people will do for entertainment! it was such an awesome experience and i cannot wait to do it again next year.

race for mld 5k.

last minute i decided to run this race for charity, and it ended up being a lot of fun.  i needed to log ten miles for training so i ran to the race, which was seven miles away, then ran the 5k.  i wasn't sure how i would do in the 5k, since i'd already ran the seven, then would have to stop and wait for the race to start--but it ended up being my fastest 5k.  being the competitive person that i am, i was kind of annoyed when i finished because apparently this was "just for fun" and they don't record the times! oh well, at least it was all for a good cause!  :)  i tried to talk nick into running with me because my dad was golfing that morning, but he just offered to give me a ride home, that works too--love him!

new york city.

we just got back from new york, and it was {as usual} a great trip! it was so good to see bry, bre, and the babe, and to do our favorite, which is to roam around the city. we ate way too much {delicious} food, went to dinner with my good friend from fourth grade {so good to see her}, watched bryan graduate from dental school, loaded an entire apartment into an eight by eight section of a moving truck, and played with our adorable nephew. this was our last trip to ny for a while, because bry and bre and moving home! sad that we don't have a free place to stay {unless we decide to invade whitney and tyler} but thrilled that they are finally going to be back in utah, after being gone for four long years. our trip went by way too fast, but we had a lot of fun.
